Democratic Rep. Nydia Velázquez of New York responded to 16-year-old CJ Pearson’s tweet about last week’s State of the Union address by saying, “you’re right to be afraid of us.”
Check out Pearson’s tweet that triggered Velázquez’s response:
A pretty harmless tweet, right?
Apparently not given Velázquez’s response to Pearson’s tweet.

Seriously? Keep in mind that Pearson is a 16-year-old and conservative activist. Why is Velázquez taking time out of her day to attack and harass a high school student?
It doesn’t end here, however.
Pearson later went on Fox News to talk about the situation:
“I was completely taken aback,” he said. “There is a sitting congresswoman telling me that I should fear her … I do not fear her because this is America.”
Pearson said that Velázquez isn’t the future, and that the current American youth is the most conservative generation since World War II.
“If anyone should be scared, it’s the congresswoman,” he said.
Pearson said he would have wanted to have a discussion with the congresswoman instead of debacle on Twitter.
“It was classless and beneath the office that she holds,” he said.
That’s a pretty mature response for a 16-year-old, who clearly has much more class and respect than the 65-year-old Democratic lawmaker.
Instead of taking time responding to harmless tweets from a high schooler, maybe Velázquez should focus on doing her job which is to support and fight for the safety and well being of the American people.
