On Wednesday, President Trump responded to Nancy Pelosi’s attempt to Block the State of the Union Address while speaking to a group of reporters.
“We just found out she’s canceled it and that’s a great blotch on the incredible country that we all love,” Trump began,
“I don’t believe it’s ever happened before,” Trumps said, adding, “it’s always good to be part of history, but this is a very negative part of history.”
“She does not want to hear the truth,” Trump continued to tell reporters. “She does not want the American public to hear what’s going on. She’s afraid of the truth,” he continued, adding that what is “going on” with “radical Democrats is “shocking.”

“People have to hear the truth, and the truth we were planning on doing a very important speech in front of the House, Senate and Supreme Court. It’s in the Constitution,” Trump scolded House Speaker Pelosi.
“I don’t believe it’s ever happened before. It’s always good to be part of history, but this is a very negative part of history. This is where people are afraid to open up and say what’s going on.”
Last week, Speak of the House Nancy Pelosi insinuated the it would be unsafe to hold the annual State of the Union address as scheduled; citing safety concerns due to the government shutdown.
Arrogantly, she offered Trump other options to address the nation, suggesting he submit his speech in writing or give it from the Oval Office.
“Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29th,” Pelosi said in the letter.
Pelosi’s reasoning was almost immediately rebuked by the United States Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security in fact the US Secret Service was never contacted by Nancy Pelosi’s office or other Democratic congressional leadership regarding their ability to protect The President, Congress and the the administration during the State of the Union, according to a Senior law enforcement official.
Other Networks who spoke with Secret Service officials also made similar reports, saying that the Secret Service is prepared for the SOTU, regardless if the government is shutdown or not?
From @petewilliamsnbc on Secret Service & SOTU "It's a no-fail mission," the official says.
"We've been planning for this for months, as we always do. It didn't start up 29 days ago," @SecretService is not being paid during shutdown

“The Honorable Nancy Pelosi
Speaker of the House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. 20515
Dear Madam Speaker:
Thank you for your letter of January 3, 2019, sent to me long after the Shutdown began, inviting me to address the Nation on January 29th as to the State of the Union. As you know, I had already accepted your kind invitation, however, I then received another letter from you dated January 16, 2019, wherein you expressed concerns regarding security during the State of the Union Address due to the Shutdown. Even prior to asking, I was contacted by the Department of Homeland Security and the United States Secret Service to explain that there would be absolutely no problem regarding security with respect to the event. They have since confirmed this publicly.
The Speaker quickly responded,
