MSNBC anchor Katy Tur exploded on Thursday when conservative guest attempted to detail instances of liberals using violent rhetoric and language toward President Donald Trump and Republicans.
During a segment on her show, “MSNBC Live,” Tur had conservative commentator Erick Erickson on to discuss the explosive devices that were mailed to several prominent Democrats and CNN’s building in New York.
The topic of the debate quickly shifted from discussing the mail bombs, which have not detonated or harmed a single person, to Tur pointing her finger at Erickson and screaming “this is my show.”
While lecturing the panel on “civility,” Tur displayed aggression, hostility, and rage when Erickson dared point out that many liberals have been using extremely violent rhetoric lately.
The segment was political from the very beginning, where Tur asked Erickson why he hasn’t condemned Trump for attacking his political opponents.
Erickson agreed that Trump should be a “unifier,” but added that Democrats also hold some responsibility.
“There are folks on the other side who need to tamp down their rhetoric as well,” Erickson said. “We had ricin attacks against [Republican Senators] Susan Collins and Ted Cruz last week, protesters chasing people out of restaurants. I think both sides need to calm down.”
“I do think it’s pretty clear when you’re talking about this toxic political environment that it did start with — mostly — with Donald Trump,” Tur said. “He started his campaign by calling Mexicans rapists, he repeatedly cheered on crowds that were screaming ‘lock her up’ for Hillary Clinton — ”
Erickson fired back by asking if she wanted to go back to former President Barack Obama telling supporters to bring “a gun to a knife fight.”
“No, stop, no, no, no, no, no,” Tur shouted, pointing her finger toward the screen. “Erick, let me finish, this is my show!”
Erickson shot back: “Donald Trump is not to blame for the mass shooting against Republicans last year — you had Democrats saying Republicans were killing people.”
Pretty remarkable to see Tur blame conservatives for hostility while literally being hostile toward a conservative. The segment and Tur were oozing with hypocrisy, and she proved to many just how biased she truly is.
While Tur was too busy pointing her finger and raging at a conservative, she didn’t say anything prominent Democrats using violent and aggressive language lately.
How about former Attorney General Eric Holder saying Democrats should “kick” Republicans?
Or, what about Hillary Clinton saying earlier this month Democrats can only become civil with Republicans if they retake Congress in November’s midterm elections?
If anything, one might argue that the Democratic Party is responsible for stoking violence with their hostile rhetoric, which also includes Tur and her network.
But more importantly, the hypocrisy of Tur melting down and screaming at a conservative while lecturing about “civility” is exactly why so many loathe the media and don’t take them seriously.
