Rep. Maxine Waters, D-CA, believes President Donald Trump should be impeached over the BuzzFeed report, which has been refuted as an absolute lie.
During an interview Sunday on MSNBC, Waters was asked about the “bombshell” story from BuzzFeed, which claimed that “sources” said Trump ordered Michael Cohen, his former attorney, to lie to Congress about potentially building a Trump Tower in Russia.
The report paved the way for the media and countless Democratic lawmakers to float impeachment proceedings and obstruction of justice charges against the president, but Mueller strongly disputed the claims.
When asked about Mueller’s statement refuting the report as “not accurate,” Waters said, “He didn’t say, for example, that it’s an absolute lie, that it is absolutely not true.”
“The way he framed it, he made it sound as if there were some problems with the way that BuzzFeed did it, but it did not absolutely close out the possibility that what BuzzFeed is saying has a lot of truth to it,” Waters added.
Despite Mueller smacking down the report, Waters still argued that Trump should be impeached.
“I’ve talked about it for a long time, I think it’s inevitable,” Waters said.
“Everything that I have seen about this president, whether it is what I have seen with collusion or with obstruction of justice, with his lies, with so many things that he’ve (sic) done, I certainly think that he qualifies for impeachment, and if it takes (Mueller) a little bit longer, if they’re all waiting on Mueller to give them permission, okay, that’s fine, but the fact of the matter is, this president should be impeached,” she said.
Waters also said she doesn’t believe Congress should be “waiting” for Mueller’s final report on the Russia investigation before introducing articles of impeachment against Trump.
“If the leadership and others have decided that’s what they want to do, I guess, that’s what they’re going to do, but I have to tell you, I believe in the final analysis, they can only come to that conclusion,” she said.
“This president must be impeached!” she weirdly shouted.
In his statement, Mueller made it clear that the BuzzFeed “bombshell” was not accurate at all.
“Buzzfeed’s description of specific statements to the Special Counsels office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s Congressional testimony are not accurate,” said the spokesperson for Robert Mueller.
Quite remarkable to see Waters call for Trump to be impeached over a report that Mueller literally admitted was totally false.
Waters has been demanding Trump be impeached since the day he took office.
Waters — the same woman who demanded that her supporters be “forceful” and “confrontational” with Trump officials when they are out in public — continues to prove she will say and do anything to go after the president.
