ABC’s Jon Karl tried to attack President Donald Trump on Sunday for saying leftist groups had paid protesters to swarm Capitol Hill and disrupt the confirmation hearing of newly nominated Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
During a segment on ABC’s “This Week,” Karl, who serves as the network’s chief White House correspondent, wanted the panel to discredit Trump’s assertion that protesters were being paid to create chaos. Leaving Karl speechless, Vice News D.C. Bureau Chief Shawna Thomas admitted that there were people paid to organize and protest Kavanaugh’s hearing.
“So, Vice News actually spent a lot of time with the protesters over this past week. We saw the President say these were professional protesters paid by George Soros est. est.,” Karl mockingly said. “Who were these people, what was going on?”
After admitting that some were on Capitol Hill to speak with lawmakers, Thomas said she was told by several people that they were paid to “organize.”
“That moment with Jeff Flake on the Hill, we talked to one woman who worked for Ultraviolet who was paid. She helped steer people in the right ways to be able to confront senators,” Thomas admitted.
“So, there were paid…” Karl begrudgingly asked, no longer having the smug look on his face.
Thomas replied: “There were people who were paid by organizations like Ultraviolet to try to harness that energy in a way that would make the viral moments that we ended up seeing.”
The segment on ABC concluded with the panel noting that Democrats plan to make Kavanaugh’s life miserable if they retake the House of Representatives in November’s midterm election.
“Democrats can really make his life, you know, miserable,” said Politico Congressional correspondent Rachel Bade, noting that they will launch several investigations.
“They want the FBI investigation – they want to make that public. There’s a huge stack of tip that is the FBI received that they did not chase that Democrats are going to look into. They’re going to talk to potential witnesses that some these women told the FBI to speak with that they did not. They’re going to look at his statements to the committee and see if he perjured himself.”
It’s also important to note that Thomas utterly destroyed Karl and, perhaps inadvertently, defended Trump’s augment about protesters being paid to create chaos for much of Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing.
In recent weeks, thousands of protesters were seen trying to shut down traffic, flooding the Capitol building, harassing GOP lawmakers, and endlessly disrupting Kavanaugh’s hearings.
On top of that, a 27-year-old staffer who worked for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, was arrested and charged last week after federal investigators discovered that he had edited a Wikipedia article to detail the personal names, addresses, and phone numbers of several Republican Senators during the confirmation hearing for Kavanaugh.
Soon after Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., delivered a fiery speech before the Senate Judiciary Committee in defense of Kavanaugh, federal authorities said Cosko uploaded the personal information of several GOP lawmakers to the Internet.
So, to Karl’s demise, it turns out that Trump was correct that far-left groups were paying people to swarm the Capitol and harass GOP lawmakers and Kavanaugh.
