A CNN panel lost their minds on Monday night while discussing President Donald Trump’s comments following the summit in Helsinki with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The segment was so pathetic that one analyst said some Americans are stupid enough to believe Trump’s ‘excuses.”
During a segment on CNN’s “Out Front,” host Erin Burnett and the panel began discussing Trump clarifying comments he made during the summit, where he came under fire for appearing to not fully support the U.S. intelligence community’s assessment that Russia attempted to meddle in the 2016 presidential election.
As noted by Newsbusters, Trump said from the White House on Monday afternoon that he misspoke, and made it clear that he fully supports and stands with the U.S. intelligence community.
Burnett went on to bitterly opine, “Did the dog eat his homework, too? How stupid does President Trump think we Americans are.”
“I say this and I’m not saying this tongue in cheek. How stupid does he think we are,” Burnett asked again, as if no one heard her the first time.
In response, CNN political analyst Mark Preston immediately took a shot Americans who supported Trump in the election, essentially arguing they are stupid enough to fall for it.
“Well, short answer is he thinks we’re very stupid. And in many ways you can’t argue against that. He has gotten away with this ever since he came down that escalator when he announced his presidency. We have seen him time and time again say one thing that is outrageous, that causes anger, then he turns around and acts like he never said it.”
Aside from CNN endorsing the idea that Trump supporters are stupid enough to believe the president, many in the media hyperventilated over the Trump-Russia summit.
Many in the media called Trump and his performance “embarrassing,” “disturbing,” “sickening,” and “unAmerican.” Former CIA Director John Brennan, who served in the Obama administration, called Trump a “traitor” and questioned when “something” will be done to stop him.
However, despite media outrage, Trump’s actions against Russia show that he has been tougher on Putin’s regime than the Obama administration ever was.
The Trump administration has levied a handful of sanctions on Russia, pushed for NATO countries to increase spending to combat Russian aggression in the region, and the U.S. has sent military equipment to regional nations that surround Russia.
A CNN panel endorsing the idea that Trump supporters are stupid further proves that the media will stoop as low as possible to attack the president.
