Parkland student turned anti-gun activist David Hogg tried to slander Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, but CNN actually called him out for it.
During an interview Monday on CNN, host Alisyn Camerota surprisingly called out Hogg for his vicious and inaccurate attacks on Rubio.
She called out Hogg for claiming that Rubio hasn’t done anything to address gun violence and make schools safer, putting him on the spot during the live interview.
Camerota said she has spoken to families who lost a loved one during the shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School last month, adding that they praised Rubio for his hard work on addressing gun violence.
She then asked Hogg if he has thought about giving Rubio credit for his efforts, especially given he was the lead sponsor on the Stop School Violence act that passed in Congress.
As noted by the Daily Wire, Hogg decided to double down on his lies, saying, “In reality these laws have more holes than Swiss cheese.”
“I guess my point is, is that if you’re trying to get everybody together, if you’re trying to have solutions, do you think it is helpful when you say things like, Marco Rubio is putting, you know, for a dollar and five cents or whatever your coupon said, that’s how much he values students?” Camerota responded. “I mean do you think that’s unnecessarily provocative?”
“No, I think it’s not enough — I don’t think it’s even provocative enough because I — Marco Rubio is still supported by the NRA, which works to ensure not the safety of gun owners and the safety of Americans everywhere, but to insure that they sell more guns,” Hogg replied.
After calling him out once for lying about Rubio, Camerota eventually stopped trying and allowed Hogg to push complete fabrications about Republicans and the National Rifle Association.
The NRA’s bylaws explicitly state that the group’s purpose is to “promote public safety, law and order, and the national defense” and to “promote hunter safety.”
The NRA’s goal is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, but Hogg continues to claim the largest gun right’s group in America is profiting off dead children.
His smears are disturbing and untrue, yet CNN and other liberal media outlets refuse to call him out for spewing disgusting lies.
Camerota did call Hogg out for lying about Rubio, which was good — but she allowed him to portray the GOP and NRA as the culprits in the tragic shooting.
By allowing Hogg to mislead viewers about gun violence and Rubio, CNN has made it clear it doesn’t mind pushing “fake news.”
What do you think about Hogg getting caught in several lies?
