ABC’s “The View” co-host Abby Huntsman unloaded on Friday and said President Donald Trump never gets “credit for anything” he does right.
The fiery clash occurred when the panel began discussing the ongoing legal issues of Michael Cohen, who previously served as Trump’s personal lawyer.
Last week, Cohen accepted a guilty deal with Special Counsel Robert Mueller and claims the president entertained the idea of a Trump Tower being constructed in Moscow. Trump said he never put up a dime of money and that it was nothing more than talk a year before the election.
Liberal co-hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin began implying the alleged deal — which never happened — amounted to collusion.
They also argued that it proved Trump was “controlled” by Russian President Vladimir Putin and not putting “America first.”
Huntsman, the only conservative host outside of Meghan McCain, fired back by arguing that Trump has been tougher on Russia than “any administration since the Cold War.”
“No one ever talks about the actual issues and what’s being done to combat Russia because that’s not the shiny object,” Huntsman said. “No one cares about that. No one gives the president credit for anything that he does right.”
When Behar attempted to interrupt Huntsman to trash Trump, McCain jumped in and noted that past U.S. presidents have had diplomatic and cordial relationships with Putin.
After Huntsman claimed Trump isn’t being tough enough on Russia, Huntsman fired off a few of the president’s acts of retaliation against Russia, particularity with Ukraine.
“Really? Really, Sunny? Really, Sunny? Trump has actually been tougher on Ukraine than President Obama was. The first thing he did with Russia when he got into office was arm the Ukrainians and put sanctions on Russia as it relates to Ukraine,” Huntsman fired back.
Then, Huntsman noted that Mueller’s investigation into alleged collusion between Trump and Russia during the 2016 election has nothing to do with the president’s current Russia policy.
“The point I’m trying to make: if you want to talk about the Mueller investigation, let’s have that talk — and the dealings that Trump had with Russia before he got into office. But if you want to talk about actual diplomacy, things that are happening with Russia, that is a very different thing. I would love for this table — not Meghan included because she’s different — to give him credit on something,” Huntsman said.
When Hostin and Behar continued to act as if they knew more than she did, Huntsman reminded them that her father serves as an ambassador in the administration, which gives her an inside look into several topics.
“Cable pundits that think they know everything about what’s going on behind closed doors in diplomacy and come out on television and give facts that are actually inaccurate,” she said.
After a year of investigating, Mueller hasn’t found or produced a shred of evidence against Trump or about alleged Russian collusion.
