A new verified report from PJ Media reveals how Google news results show an anti-Trump media source roughly 96 percent of the time. The report provides a slew of imagery, data, and statistics showing that when users type “Trump” into Google’s search bar under the “news” filter, nearly all of the results that show up come from left-leaning news outlets.
PJ Media’s Paul Bolyard details in her report that it appears Google is manipulating its algorithm to prioritize liberal news outlets in their coverage of President Donald Trump.
Bolyard’s test was simple: she typed “Trump” in a Google search using the search engine’s “News” tab. Here’s what she found:
“I expected to see some skewing of the results based on my extensive experience with Google, but I was not prepared for the blatant prioritization of left-leaning and anti-Trump media outlets. Looking at the first page of search results, I discovered that CNN was the big winner, scoring two of the first ten results. Other left-leaning sites that appeared on the first page were CBS, The Atlantic, CNBC, The New Yorker, Politico, Reuters, and USA Today (the last two outlets on this list could arguably be considered more centrist than the others).”
She reported that not one right-leaning news outlet appeared on the first page of the search results. Bolyard then analyzed the first 100 sites that Google listed in her search for “Trump” under “News.”
Bolyard reports it only got worse from there, with only two conservative sites appearing — Fox News and The Wall Street Journal.
“CNN, by a wide margin, appeared most frequently, with nearly twice as many results returned as the second-place finisher, The Washington Post. Other left-leaning outlets also fared well, including NBC, CNBC, The Atlantic, and Politico. The only right-leaning sites to appear in the top 100 were The Wall Street Journal and Fox News with 3 and 2 results respectively.”
She reports that notable conservative sites like Breitbart, I Love My Freedom, National Review, Townhall, The Daily Wire, The Daily Caller, and so on did not appear in the first 100 results.
Here’s an image that Bolyard used in her piece, which illustrates the breakdown of the sites that appeared most frequently in the top 100 results.
Notice the trend? CNN appears almost 28 percent of the time when users search for “Trump” under the search engine’s “News” filter. The Washington Post, NBC, and then CNBC followed with more than 10 percent of the results.
PJ Media’s study offers a scary insight into how big tech is not-so-subtly suppressing right-leaning sites and voices. And, having CNN — of all outlets — receiving nearly 30 percent of all the results when users search for Trump illustrates how the search engine is feeding traffic to liberal outlets.
When someone types “Trump” into Google for news, users see a report from left-leaning outlet 96 percent of the time. That is likely affecting tens of millions of people, and offers another chilling reminder that while liberal outlets are being prioritized, conservative websites are being suppressed.
This is why Trump, GOP lawmakers, and so many have been demanding Congress take action to force massive companies like Google to stop tilting the scales and allow everyone equal opportunity.
Twitter “SHADOW BANNING” prominent Republicans. Not good. We will look into this discriminatory and illegal practice at once! Many complaints.
