A terminally ill man from Connecticut who happens to be a big fan of President Trump, is getting his wish of talking to President Trump fulfilled.
Jay Barrett suffers from cystic fibrosis and he recently left the hospital to start palliative care at his sisters home where he will stay until he dies. His dying wish was to receive some sort of contact from President Trump.
The sister of Barrett, Bridgette Hoskie a West Haven City Councilwoman who describes herself as “100 percent Democrat,” took the opportunity to spread her brother’s message throughout Instagram and Facebook.
Her efforts paid off on Tuesday when Barrett received a message from Lynne Patton who said she was going to visit him on Saturday and she was going to bring a gift.
Eventually, through Patton, Barrett’s wish came true when he received a call from President Trump.
“Mr. President, through thick and thin, you know there’s been a lot of thicks, and there’s been a lot of thins, I support you,” Barrett said to the President.
“You’re my kind of man, Jay. … I’m very proud of you,” Trump said during the call. “I’ll talk to you again, Jay, OK? You keep that fight going. We both fight.”
Not many presidents will take time out of their busy schedule to talk to someone whose dying wish is to talk to them. President Trump is the people’s president!
Watch below to listen to the touching phone call:
President Trump wasn’t the only Trump to take time out of his day to talk to Barrett. Before Barrett received a call from the President, he received a call from Eric Trump, President Trump’s son.
Barrett was floored Monday night when Eric Trump called him at about 7:45 out of the blue to let him know the family was sending a special gift Saturday.
It was an exhausting first day home from the hospital, but so exciting, Barrett said.
“He told me they’re pulling for me and praying,” he said. He said Eric Trump told him the president had a special gift for Barrett.
Patton, who is from New Haven, reached out to the Trump family at the request of a Facebook friend after a Register story about Barrett’s wish was posted online.
Patton wrote in a Facebook exchange: “Done. Just spoke to Eric Trump and he has a signed gift from his father especially for Jay. And trust me, Trump doesn’t sign much anymore now that he’s POTUS, so this is very special.”
“I’m thrilled about it (the visit),” Barrett said Sunday, a day after leaving Yale New Haven Hospital and beginning palliative care at his sister’s home. “She said she’s going to bring me something, but the expectations are none. It’s the thought that counts, not the gift itself.”
This is why the American people elected Donald Trump.
The man truly cares about his people and will do anything to make them happy.
The President also raised very good children who will take the lead when it comes to touching someone’s life!
