Russia! Russia! Russia!
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Russia is demanding that the FBI open a new investigation into Russia — but this time, it’s for an even more pathetic reason than “collusion.”
As noted by New York Post, Schumer asked FBI Director Christopher Wray on Wednesday to investigate whether data shared on the popular FaceApp software is ending up in the hands of the Russian government or third-party companies with ties to the Kremlin.
In a letter to Wray, Schumer claimed that the app “could pose national security and privacy risks for millions of US citizens.”
The FaceApp, which went viral this month and racked up over 150 million users, allows people to take a photo of themselves and alter it to make them either look younger, older, or a different gender.
Schumer thinks FaceApp is being controlled by Russia to steal photos of people because the app is headquartered in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The location “raises questions regarding how and when the company provides access to the data of US citizens to third parties, including potentially foreign governments,” Schumer wrote.
“I ask that the FBI assess whether the personal data uploaded by millions of Americans onto FaceApp may be finding its way into the hands of the Russian government, or entities with ties to the Russian government,” he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, the DNC sent a security alert to warn 2020 presidential campaigns to not use the software.
“This app allows users to perform different transformations on photos of people, such as aging the person in the picture. Unfortunately, this novelty is not without risk: FaceApp was developed by Russians,” an alert from DNC’s Chief Security Officer Bob Lord read.
Democrats refuse to give up their Russia conspiracy theories.
This comes just months after their two-year long Trump-Russia “collusion” probe ended with the president being completely vindicated.
In April, Attorney General William Barr put the final nail in the collusion coffin and reiterated countless times that former Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence that Trump, his campaign, or any American colluded with Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
put the final nail in the collusion coffin and reiterated countless times that Mueller found no evidence that Trump, his campaign, or any American colluded with Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
Barr said he consulted with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and they both determined there was no evidence to charge Trump with obstructing justice in the Russia probe.
The president has been completely vindicated after the two-year Russia witch hunt.
Barr and Mueller have made it clear that there is no evidence of collusion or obstruction.
Now Democrats want Americans to believe Russia is trying to hack your information because you used an app to alter a photo.
