Americans need not look further than Chicago for proof that gun control does not work.
The Windy City has some of the strictest laws on the books, yet remains one of the most violent cities around.
Check out what happened this past weekend…
From ABC News:
At least 10 people were killed and 52 others were wounded in a tragic outburst of Chicago gun violence over the weekend, according to police.
Officers with the Chicago Police Department attributed the shootings to rash of gang-related incidents. Many of the shootings occurred between 6 p.m. and early Saturday morning, police said.
One incident left four people wounded near Northwestern University’s Chicago campus early Saturday morning, according to ABC Chicago station WLS.
A 28-year-old man and 26-year-old man said they were standing outside a red van at around 2 a.m. when they heard gunshots and realized they’d been shot, WLS reported. Two other men, ages 28 and 25, were shot in the head around the same area early Saturday, WLS said.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, once Barack Obama’s right-hand man at the White House, has declared America a “sanctuary country.”
Why say something so silly?
Allow him to explain…
What President Trump fails to understand is that America is a sanctuary country. Small, medium & large cities across the nation are suddenly & rapidly identifying as sanctuary cities because of the abandonment of Americans values, ideals & cultural destiny under Trump’s watch.

They are doing so to get votes, undermine the police, and turn our country into a third world nation, run by Democrats. We welcome immigrants, legal ones. You guys want illegal immigrants and no border.

As a pre-eminent sanctuary city, exactly how many migrants is Chicago prepared to accept this year, in order to prevent separating families and keeping kids in cages?

Notice how the Mayor didn't say bring them to Chicago? lol liar and hypocrite, bet the low income communities can't wait to get poorer, compete for jobs against people who will work for less then get our tax money to send their kids to school.

A sanctuary country with immigration laws that are undermined by the policies of sanctuary cities.

What’s your point, oh long winded one? You ask for these people. You demand they be allowed to enter. Now you don’t want them brought here? Hypocrite. Enjoy your retirement, you hack. #Chicago #SanctuaryCities

Rahm you’re an idiot. America is a republic founded with a constitution and laws. Those who enter America without permission are ILLEGAL ALIENS. Do you not know the meaning of ILLEGAL.
— Don Synowiec (@DonSynowiec) April 12, 2019
I must have missed the part when you went to the voters to ask if they wanted to be a Sanctuary City. Wonder what the results would be if you asked the taxpayers if they wanted to have their taxes raised to support more illegal aliens?

Emanuel says “toxic” President Trump is to blame for Jussie’ Smollett’s actions.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel blamed President Donald Trump in a press conference Thursday for the alleged hate hoax carried out by Empire Jussie Smollett, claiming that the president created a “toxic” and “vicious” cycle for which the star thought he could get away with the purportedly staged attack on himself.
“Look, I’ve always said from day one this is a Trump-free zone, the city of Chicago, and I mean it,” Emanuel told reporters. “Let me be really clear about something: The only reason Jussie Smollett thought he could take advantage of a hoax about a hate crime is for the environment, the toxic environment Donald Trump created.”
“This is a president who drew a moral equivalency between people who are trying to perpetuate bigotry and those who are trying to fight bigotry,” the mayor continued. “As somebody who started his own journey in politics fighting the neo-Nazis in Skokie and Marquette Park, President Trump should literally take his politics, move it aside.”
Emanuel wants Smollett to cut the city a $130,000 check.
BREAKING: ABC Chicago reports that the city of Chicago has sent a letter to Jussie Smollett's legal team demanding Smollett pay $130,000 to the city to pay for the investigation of the alleged hate crime hoax.

More, via USA Today:
Chicago’s Department of Law sent Smollett a letter threatening that if the $130,000 “is not timely paid,” the city will go after him in court for making false statements, thus allowing them to collect more money from him under the municipal code.
According to the letter, violation of the false statement ordinance allows the city to collect up to three times the amount of damages the city sustains as a result of the violation – in Smollett’s case, that would be $390,000.
Emanuel said police department officials are still assembling the costs of the investigation that began shortly after Smollett reported to police on Jan. 29 that he was the victim of a brutal attack by assailants who yelled racial and homophobic slurs as they beat him. The actor also told police that the assailants yelled “This is MAGA country” during the assault.
