Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi joined forces to support a measure that would allow illegal aliens to obtain a firearm in America.
Earlier this week, the Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives passed a sweeping gun control measure that cracks down on America’s Second Amendment.
The Democrats passed gun legislation that expanded background checks, but it also included an amendment written by the GOP that required Immigration Customs and Enforcement officials to be notified if an illegal alien fails a background check when attempting to purchase a firearm.
This sent Pelosi and Ocasio-Cortez over the edge and resulted in them threatening their own colleagues for supporting the amendment during a closed-door meeting.
Here’s more from The Daily Caller:
Despite sparring over the best way to combat climate change, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and freshman Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appear to be working together on what really matters: threatening members of their own party who dare to cross party lines on key votes.
The two are prepared to go to war — on two fronts — with Democrats who might be tempted to vote with the GOP on tougher issues.
Pelosi reportedly informed her party that members showing “courage” in such votes would be given a higher priority when it came time for them to run for re-election in 2020. The underlying threat was implicit in what she didn’t say: that those who lacked such “courage” might be left to fend for themselves.
“This is not a day at the beach,” the veteran Speaker reportedly told her caucus. “This is the Congress of the United States.”
Politico added that Ocasio-Cortez was prepared to do her part as well, citing sources who said she planned to “alert progressive activists when Democrats are voting with the GOP on these motions.”
Remarkable to see that Ocasio-Cortez and Pelosi didn’t want ICE to be notified when an illegal alien attempts to purchase a firearm in America.
But more importantly, this wasn’t the only controversial comment made during the closed-door meeting.
It was also reported that Ocasio-Cortez threatened her fellow Democrats if they dare to cross party lines and vote with Republicans.
The New York socialist told lawmakers on Thursday behind a closed-door meeting that they will be “putt on a lis” if they vote with Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The report indicates that Ocasio-Cortez, backed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, told around 20 House Democrats that if they vote with Republicans on issues, they will be put on a list for a primary challenge.
“We are either a team or we’re not, and we have to make that decision,” Pelosi reportedly told the roughly 20 moderate Democrats.
The Post reports that Ocasio-Cortez followed-up by saying, “the unquestioned media superstar of the freshman class, upped the ante, admonishing the moderates and indicating she would help liberal activists unseat them in the 2020 election.”
Pelosi and Ocasio-Cortez sure do make the perfect radical team.
