President Donald Trump’s latest plan to fight back against the witch hunts from Democrats definitely had House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler seething with rage.
According to the New York Post, the Trump administration informed Nadler this week that it was not going to comply with more than 20 congressional investigations.
“By this administration’s command, the White House has attempted to impede over 20 congressional investigations, including by ignoring or failing to provide meaningful responses to dozens of letters requesting information on topics ranging from the Affordable Care Act, to the security of our elections, to the policy of separating children from their parents at the border,” Nadler told reporters on Wednesday.
Nadler also decried that the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives has sent an “extraordinary” amount of subpoenas to government witnesses, but most of them have not come to interviews and hearings.
“While in other administrations Congress issued subpoenas only as a last resort, when negotiations failed, the Trump administration has often been unwilling to engage with Congress at all, unless and until a subpoena is issued and a contempt proceeding is looming,” Nadler said.
“This constitutional brinkmanship is particularly unacceptable whereas here the president is using the powers of his office to impede an investigation into his own alleged misconduct,” the New York Democrat Democrat said.
Nadler said his top priority is still to obtain an unredacted copy of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s full report, saying he invited White House counsel Pat Cipollone to testify about why it hasn’t been released.
Cipollone, who is well-aware of the games being played by Democrats, declined the invitation and instead submitted a written statement.
“The only purpose for this duplication seems to be harassing and seeking to embarrass political opponents after an exhaustive two-year investigation by the Department of Justice did not reach the conclusion that some members of the committee apparently would have preferred,” Cipollone said.
For the record, roughly 92 percent of the Mueller report has been made available to Congress and the public.
The only information that is redacted pertains to grand jury secrecy, meaning it would literally be against federal law for Attorney General William Barr to make available.
Democrats have been ratcheting up crazy, utterly bizarre ideas lately.
Last week, Texas Democratic Rep. Lloyd Doggett said he’s “ready” to hire security personnel “to make an arrest” and throw Barr in jail over the Mueller report.
Earlier this month, Nadler suggested fining people associated with President Trump $20,000 per day for not honoring his subpoenas.
The Democrat went onto talk about fining and even arresting Trump officials who defy him.
This is how desperate Democrats are to go after Trump.
They want the attorney general arrested and jailed because he won’t break federal law in order to release a small portion of the Mueller report.
