Most Democrats running for president are comedians at heart. They just don’t know it.
Most of the things they say, if not all, can and should be followed by a rimshot.
Check out Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke’s thoughts on what happens to America if President Trump wins re-election…
Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” 2020 presidential hopeful former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) predicted if President Donald Trump won a second term, “we’ll lose America.”
Beto noted, “There is a concerted, organized attack against immigrants, against people of color, against those who do not look like or pray like or love like the majority in this country. And this moment will define us one way or another. And if we do not wake up to it, I am convinced that we’ll lose America, this country, in our sleep. And we cannot allow that to happen.”
O’Rourke continued, “Yes, Democrats have to address those issues and deliver on those issues, but we also have to call out the existential threat, to use the word you just employed, that Donald Trump represents right now. Not only are we going to lose more live, I’m confident that we will lose this country and our democracy the longer he says in office. So that is the urgency behind what I’m talking about.”
Beto says he won’t run for Senate when his presidential run inevitably comes to a screeching halt, via USA Today:
Beto O’Rourke has once again said he will not drop out of the 2020 presidential race to run for the Senate instead.
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell asked the former Texas congressman Thursday evening if he had December 9 marked on his calendar, as it’s “the last day you can file in the Senate Democratic primary in Texas.”
“Let me make your show the place where I tell you and I tell the country I will not in any scenario run for the United States Senate,” O’Rourke responded. “I’m running for president. I’m running for this country. I’m taking this fight directly to Donald Trump, and that is what I am exclusively focused on doing right now.”
Last year, O’Rourke ran for Senate against Sen. Ted Cruz, where he gained national attention by ending up in a tight battle against the Republican incumbent in traditionally conservative Texas.
Naturally, O’Rourke thinks Trump will cause a recession.
From RealClear Politics:
BETO O’ROURKE: This current trade war that the president has entered our country into is not working. It is hammering the hell out of farmers across this country, who do not want bailouts or payoffs. They just want to be able to make a profit in what they’re growing and be able to have those markets again that they worked a lifetime to create.
The American consumer understands that these tariffs are a tax on them, one of the greatest tax increases on the middle class in the history of this country. And so yes, we need to hold China accountable. But when have we ever gone into a war, a military war or a trade war, without allies or friends and partners?
Let’s make sure that we bring our friends in the European Union, Canada, and Mexico, and others, and bring a united front against China, to make sure that they respect the rules of the road, that they respect our economy, our farmers, and our workers. That’s the best possible way to come to a conclusion that benefits our economy and ensures that we have a stable, global economy, going forward. Because I’m afraid that this president is driving the global economy and our economy into recession.
