House Speaker Nancy Pelosi offered a full-throated defense of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s recent remarks about 9/11, but then admitted that she has no idea that the Muslim lawmaker actually said.
While speaking with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Pelosi malfunctioned several times and made it clear she had no idea what she was talking about.
Pelosi rejected criticism of Omar making anti-Semitic comments and claimed the Democratic Party has done plenty to combat racism.
“I don’t think the congresswoman is anti-Semitic. I wouldn’t even put those in the same category,” Pelosi told interviewer Christiane Amanpour in Ireland. “We have no taint of that [anti-Semitism],” she added. “And just because they want to accuse somebody of that doesn’t mean that we take that bait.”
After defending Omar, Pelosi actually admitted that she has no idea what Omar said.
“Until I talk to somebody, I don’t even know what was said,” Pelosi said. “I do know that what the president did was not right.”

Only Pelosi could defend Omar for making anti-Semitic comments and then seconds later admit that she doesn’t even know what was said.
Making matters even worse, Pelosi released a statement saying she notified Capitol Police and the Sergeant at Arms to provide more security for Omar and demanded that Trump take down the video he shared of Omar.
In her statement, Pelosi said: “Following the President’s tweet, I spoke with the Sergeant-at-Arms to ensure that Capitol Police are conducting a security assessment to safeguard Congresswoman Omar, her family and her staff. They will continue to monitor and address the threats she faces.”
“The President’s words weigh a ton, and his hateful and inflammatory rhetoric creates real danger. President Trump must take down his disrespectful and dangerous video,” it added.
Omar came under fire last week for describing the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks as “some people did something.”
Late last week, Trump shared a video to his Twitter account that showed Omar making her comments at an event last month for the Council on American–Islamic Relations.
Omar described 9/11 as “some people did something” rather than saying a group of al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four airplanes, ran two of them into the Twin Towers, and killed just shy of 3,000 innocent Americans.
Trump captioned his tweet, “WE WILL NEVER FORGET!”

It’s important to note that Trump didn’t wish any harm on Omar at all. He literally uploaded a clip of her exact comments and said “we will never forget.”
In addition, many Americans share Trump’s frustration and anger with Omar for her remarks.
And Pelosi is defending her — without even knowing what she actually said.
