The Mueller report showed no indictments, Trump didn’t collude with Russia and Michael Avenatti is going to jail. This week can’t possibly get any better, can it?
Actually, yes. It just got much better. On Monday, the Pentagon signed off on a $1 billion package for the U.S Army Corps of Engineers to support the Homeland Security Department and Customs and Border Protection to build the wall on our southern border.
The funds which were approved by Acting Defense Secretary Pat Shanahan will go towards building a brand new 57 mile section of the border with 18 foot tall pedestrian fencing along with construction and new roads with the main purpose of stoping drug smugglers.
Check out what the Washington Examiner reported:
The statement from the Defense Department said the projects are specifically catered to stopping drug-smuggling corridors.
President Trump declared a national emergency in February at the border after Congress refused to allocate $5.7 billion for his border wall project. The declaration moved billions of dollars from the military construction budget. Trump’s move prompted a swift legal challenge from more than a dozen states, as well as rebuke from Democrats and some Republican lawmakers.
President Trump was forced to declare a national emergency to build the wall because of the obstruction he was met with by the Left. The situation at the border is becoming worse considering it is expected that there will be over 1 million illegals crossing our southern border this year alone. Instead of putting an end to this crisis, the Democrats have made it clear that they rather oppose the President than keep our country safe.
By the looks of things, the $1 billion package to build part of the wall is just the beginning. According to the Washington Examiner, another $1.5 billion is expected to be approved for the wall in the near future.
The original announcement of the decision was made on Monday when the Pentagon notified Congress that they would be using funds to build the wall. The announcement was met with backlash from all the far Left Democrats.
“We strongly object to both the substance of the funding transfer, and to the Department implementing the transfer without seeking the approval of the congressional defense committees and in violation of provisions in the defense appropriation itself,” the Democrat senators wrote in their letter to Shanahan. “As a result, we have serious concerns that the Department has allowed political interference and pet projects to come ahead of many near-term, critical readiness issues facing our military.”
Political interference? This is about protecting the American people from dangerous illegal aliens, drugs, sex trafficking and much more. The only political interference here is the Democrats who rather obstruct the President than keep America safe. Many of the Democrats in Congress have stated in the past that they would support a border wall however they didn’t become opposed to the idea until President Trump voiced his support for securing the border. Just more hypocrisy from the Left.
