On Saturday, Republican congressman Justin Amash called for the impeachment of President Trump. This announcement by the RINO has received tons of support by far-Left Democrats and tons of backlash from Republicans.
One of these Republicans who has come out slamming the RINO congressman is Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
On Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, McCarthy stated, “He [Amash] wants to have attention… He votes more with Nancy Pelosi than he ever votes with me. It’s a question of whether he is even in our Republican conference as a whole… He wants a Sunday show to put his name forward with a question.”
On Saturday, Amash made the stunning move to announce his support for the impeachment of President Trump in a series of tweets. He also stated that Attorney General Bill Barr “deliberately misrepresented” the Mueller report.
“Here are my principal conclusions: 1. Attorney General Barr has deliberately misrepresented Mueller’s report. 2. President Trump has engaged in impeachable conduct. 3. Partisanship has eroded our system of checks and balances. 4. Few members of Congress have read the report,” Amash said in a tweet.
“I offer these conclusions only after having read Mueller’s redacted report carefully and completely, having read or watched pertinent statements and testimony, and having discussed this matter with my staff, who thoroughly reviewed materials and provided me with further analysis,” he continued.
Amash then went on to bash AG Barr. “In comparing Barr’s principal conclusions, congressional testimony, and other statements to Mueller’s report, it is clear that Barr intended to mislead the public about Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s analysis and findings.”
“Barr’s misrepresentations are significant but often subtle, frequently taking the form of sleight-of-hand qualifications or logical fallacies, which he hopes people will not notice,” he continued.
When it came time for the reasoning for why the President should be impeached, Amash said it is because of “high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” Amash tried to make the point that the President “violated public trust” which means he should be impeached.
“Under our Constitution, the president “shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” While “high Crimes and Misdemeanors” is not defined, the context implies conduct that violates the public trust,” he said.
Amash finished by talking about how brilliant the constitution is, trying to make the claim that his call for impeachment supports the constitution.
“America’s institutions depend on officials to uphold both the rules and spirit of our constitutional system even when to do so is personally inconvenient or yields a politically unfavorable outcome. Our Constitution is brilliant and awesome; it deserves a government to match it,” he said.
On Sunday, President Trump came out swinging on Amash.
“Never a fan of Justin Amash, a total lightweight who opposes me and some of our great Republican ideas and policies just for the sake of getting his name out there through controversy,” Trump said in a tweet on Sunday.
“If he actually read the biased Mueller Report, ‘composed’ by 18 Angry [Democrats] who hated Trump, he would see that it was nevertheless strong on NO COLLUSION and, ultimately, NO OBSTRUCTION… Anyway, how do you Obstruct when there is no crime and, in fact, the crimes were committed by the other side? Justin is a loser who sadly plays right into our opponents hands!” the President continued.
