Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who has accused Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her almost 40 years ago, has agreed to testify before Congress, but there’s a huge catch.
Ford’s legal team said she will only consider testifying if her four demands are met. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, not only fired back with serious heat, his office also said her list of ridiculous conditions are ” non-starters.”
According to The Daily Wire, here are Ford’s demands:
- That Kavanaugh not be present during her testimony (he has a constitutional right to do so).
- That Kavanaugh give his testimony first (no court of law allows that).
- That no outside counsel can question her (allowing senators to grandstand).
- That the hearing take place next Thursday, not Monday (delaying the vote closer to October).
Reporter Yashar Ali revealed on Friday that two senior members of Grassley’s staff said Ford’s demands aren’t going to happen.
A senior Senate staffer tells me that both of these are non-starters.
1. Kavanaugh will testify after Ford so that he can respond to her accusations the staffer told me
2. They will not allow witnesses to dictate who does/doesn't get subpoenaed. https://t.co/cjxtOxhDlr

Ford’s ridiculous demands are clearly an attempt to stall the confirmation vote even longer.
Her conditions came after Grassley’s office went well out of their way to accommodate her, and even offered to travel to California so Ford can privately testify in her home — she has refused.
Grassley’s office also responded on Friday with a counter-offer:
BREAKING ON CNN: the LIKELY – key word, likely – GOP counteroffer to Prof. Ford is as follows 1) hearing Wednesday, 2) Ford testifies first, #Kavanaugh second, 3) Independent counsel asks questions. via @DanaBashCNN @Phil_Mattingly

The back-and-forth between Grassley’s office and Ford’s legal team was kicked into overdrive when the Iowa Senator gave Ford until 10 a.m. ET on Friday morning to respond to his request to testify on Monday.
Kavanaugh said he will attend the hearing and testify about the alleged incident. Ford, who claims to only vaguely remember the party, said she will consider testifying next Thursday if the Committee agrees to her four ridiculous demands.
Democrats have turned this entire ordeal into an absolute embarrassment.
Kavanaugh strongly denied the allegations and has had several classmates publicly defend him. He has also accepted the invitation to testify on Monday and answer questions from lawmakers about the alleged incident.
Ford refuses to appear on Monday and is listing demands before she considers — not agrees — to testify.
As President Donald Trump asked on Thursday, why did she wait so this long to come forward? And now that she has, why won’t Ford testify and tell lawmakers what she claims happened to her? If her allegations are true and can be substantiated, why won’t she go on the record?
Trump asked the exact question many Americans are thinking about this entire situation.
At what point will the GOP recognize Democrats are obviously using stall tactics and move on with the confirmation hearing? How much more does Kavanaugh and his family have to go through?
Aside from that, many are applauding Grassley for not giving in to Ford’s obvious attempts to play games. If she won’t testify, then the Senate has no choice but to move forward and vote to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
