Earlier this week, Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz made Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg squirm when pressed about the social media giants well-documented censorship of conservatives.
During his testimony before the Senate Judiciary and Commerce Committee, many lawmakers lobbed easy questions at Zuckerberg and allowed him to provide vague answers to serious questions.
But not Cruz.
The Texas Republican nuked Zuckerberg and demanded the CEO answer questions about conservatives being unfairly targeted on Facebook.
Cruz began by listing off several examples of Facebook censoring conservative users and publishers.
He detailed the company recently suspending the Facebook page for conservative commentators Diamond and Silk, hiding stories about Obama’s IRS targeting conservatives, and how the website removed more than two dozen Catholic pages.
As noted by The Daily Caller, here’s the exchange:
Cruz: “To a great many Americans, that appears to be a pervasive pattern of political bias. Do you agree with that assessment?”
Cruz: “Are you aware of any ad or page that has been taken down from Planned Parenthood?” Cruz shot at the tech billionaire.
Zuckerberg: “Senator, I’m not.”
Cruz: “How about MoveOn.org?”
Zuckerberg: “I’m not specifically aware of those.”
Cruz absolutely dismantled Zuckerberg and proved that top liberal publishers and groups like MoveOn.org and Planned Parenthood have not been effected by Facebook’s new policies at all.
Social media erupted over Cruz’s verbal beat down of Zuckerberg:
Ted Cruz finally asks the question that we've all been waiting for.
Are you involved in censoring conservatives and specifically asks about the blocking of @DiamondandSilk's account

Bam! @tedcruz exposes Zuckerberg and FB total hypocrisy for how they slant content and restrict people’s access to views they don’t like. Thanks @tedcruz because many of your colleagues don’t know much about the Interweb!

Senator Ted Cruz is going right for the jugular on #Zuckerberg. He is getting The Zuck to admit that he is NOT a neutral forum for all ideas.
