House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler has made it clear that he will not listen to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Despite Pelosi telling Nadler and Democrats to hold off on impeachment proceedings, Nadler came out this week and said they are already underway.
During an interview Thursday night on CNN’s “OutFront with Erin Burnett,” Nadler confirmed that his committee has officially launched “formal impeachment proceedings” into the alleged misconduct of President Donald Trump.
Nadler said people shouldn’t be “hung up on the semantics” since his committee is “investigating” the facts and evidence.
He then flat-out stated that he “wasn’t waiting” for Pelosi to support impeachment, but added that she’s been “very cooperative” with his investigation.
When asked specifically if his investigation could be considered “formal impeachment proceedings,” Nadler answered in the affirmative.
“This is formal impeachment proceedings. We are investigating all the evidence, we’re gathering the evidence and we will at the conclusion of this, hopefully by the end of the year, vote to, vote articles of impeachment to the House floor or we won’t,” Nadler said.
“That’s a decision that we’ll have to make. But that — that’s exactly the process we’re in right now,” he added.
“All right, so when you say formal impeachment proceedings, have you started drafting or preparing articles of impeachment should you need them?” host Erin Burnett asked.
“There are articles of impeachment introduced a number of months ago and referred to the committee,” Nadler responded. “As the investigation proceeds, we may want to draft our own articles of impeachment that may more closely fit the evidence. We’ll see.”

Pelosi has publicly claimed that she does not want to push impeachment right now until Democrats have an “ironclad” case, but she is just as radical as Nadler and the rest of their party.
Last month, Pelosi told senior Democrats during a closed door meeting that she wants to see President Trump “in prison.”
Pelosi, Nadler, and several other top Democrats held the meeting to weigh their options moving forward.
While Pelosi has been reluctant to endorse or begin impeachment, she reportedly told Democrats at this meeting that she wants to see the president go to jail.
“I don’t want to see him impeached, I want to see him in prison,” Pelosi said, according to multiple Democratic sources familiar with the meeting. Instead of impeachment, Pelosi still prefers to see Trump defeated at the ballot box and then prosecuted for his crimes, according to the sources.
Pelosi is currently in a bind with her own party over whether to wait or try to impeach Trump before the 2020 election.
Pelosi may eventually cave and allow House Democrats to move ahead with impeachment proceedings, but she’s well-aware of the political ramifications of going down that path.
Which is why it’s incredibly bizarre to think Pelosi is telling people behind closed-doors that Trump should be “in prison.”
