This should be good if it happens.
A former Republican Congressman from South Carolina is giving serious thought to challenging President Trump in 2020.
This, despite little to no name recognition nationally.
From Post and Courier:
Almost a year after President Donald Trump urged voters to reject Mark Sanford, the former South Carolina congressman is considering a Republican presidential run of his own against Trump in 2020.
Sanford, in an interview Tuesday with The Post and Courier, confirmed he will take the next month to formulate a potential run against Trump as a way of pushing a national debate about America’s mounting debt, deficit and government spending.
He would run as a Republican.
“Sometimes in life you’ve got to say what you’ve got to say, whether there’s an audience or not for that message,” Sanford said. “I feel convicted.”
If he does get in the race, Sanford faces mammoth odds against getting any traction within the Republican Party. Hours after news broke of Sanford’s possible presidential bid, he faced blunt condemnation from his own South Carolina Republican Party.
“The last time Mark Sanford had an idea this dumb, it killed his Governorship. This makes about as much sense as that trip up the Appalachian trail,” S.C. GOP Chairman Drew McKissick said in an emailed statement. The comment was later shared on the S.C. GOP Twitter account, which features a banner image of a Trump-Pence campaign logo.
Are you pro-life? Well, you can’t be a judge.
This comes directly from the lips of 2020 Democrat presidential candidate, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (NY).
Because there’s no right opinion unless it’s the left’s opinion!
From Free Beacon:
Democratic presidential candidate and senator Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.) said Thursday that individuals who are pro-life should not be judges.
“These are personal decisions. They are health care decisions. They are economic decisions. They are moral decisions. A woman has a right to make all those decisions,” Gillibrand said in an interview on New Hampshire Public Radio. “And if you are telling me today, that women in America don’t have that right. I think you are so backward-looking that those judges and justices are not the type of people we should be appointing because it is too backward-looking.”
Gillibrand sparked controversy this week when she compared pro-life beliefs to racism and suggested the pro-life viewpoint is “not acceptable” during an interview with the Des Moines Register.
“I think there’s some issues that have such moral clarity that we have as a society decided that the other side is not acceptable. Imagine saying that it’s okay to appoint a judge who’s racist or anti-Semitic or homophobic. Asking someone to appoint someone who takes away basic human rights of any group of people in America—I don’t think that those are political issues anymore,” Gillibrand said.
In the nine years since the Citizens United ruling, unaccountable money has eroded our democracy. As long as candidates continue to accept corporate PAC and federal lobbyist donations, we can’t fix what’s broken.
One person, one vote. It’s time to overturn Citizens United.

In order to make a splash in the crowded 2020 Democrat field, the New York senator is now saying she wouldn’t detain any illegal aliens.
Boy, is this a smart strategy or what?
Democratic presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand on illegal aliens who are arrested at the border: “As President, I wouldn’t use the detention system at all…They don’t need to be incarcerated…They can go into the community the way we used to handle these cases under DOJ”

In an odd move to either stay relevant or make a splash in the headlines, Gillibrand has teamed up with a former Soviet propaganda outfit.
Read that last sentence again.
From Free Beacon:
2020 Democratic presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand is set to sign on to a policy proposal penned in part by a Marxist think tank best known for serving as a de facto Soviet mouthpiece during the Cold War.
BuzzFeed reported Tuesday that the New York senator will endorse a new report recommending steps to reduce the racial wealth divide, including policies such as a commission to study slavery reparations.
“A draft of the report, titled ‘Ten Solutions to Bridge the Racial Wealth Divide,’ will be jointly released this week by the Institute for Policy Studies, the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, and the National Community Reinvestment Coalition,” they report. Gillibrand told BuzzFeed News that she was “proud” to support the document.
One of the organizations Gillibrand is “proud” to partner with, the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), was infamous during the Cold War for its defense of Communist governments and for its kneejerk support of the Soviet line.
Well, isn’t that just swell?
