Dems Say Americans ‘Obligated’ To Give Amnesty To Illegals, Claim They’ve ‘Earned The Right’ To Stay

After Democrats and 7 Republicans in the House passed a sweeping amnesty bill, several Senate Democrats say American citizens “have an obligation” to give blanket amnesty to potentially millions of illegal aliens because they have “earned the right” to stay in the U.S.

As noted by Breitbart, Democrats are demanding the Senate pass the amnesty package that was approved in the Democratic-controlled House last week.

Democratic Senators Dianne Feinstein, Chris Van Hollen, Ben Cardin, and Tim Kaine have joined forces to demand the Republican-controlled Senate pass their amnesty plan, which gives nearly half a million foreign nationals living in the U.S. on Temporary Protected Status a pathway to American citizenship.

Here’s what Cardin said in a statement:

These individuals have lawfully lived and worked in the U.S. as our neighbors, as they sought refuge in the U.S. We have an obligation to take action and give needed predictability and safety to people who are in an uncertain status. We need to stand up for the American values of compassion and diversity that have made this country stronger.

In a statement of her own, Feinstein said the roughly 440,000 foreign nationals who would receive the amnesty have “earned the right” to permanently stay in the U.S.:

“The Senate needs to follow the House’s lead and pass these important protections for immigrant families who have been living and working in the United States for decades. After fleeing wars and natural disasters, these families have established deep roots in our communities and earned the right to remain together here in the United States.”

CAST YOUR VOTE: Should President Trump CLOSE DOWN The Southern Border?

House GOP leadership argue that the Democrats’ amnesty bill will only worsen the migrant crisis at the southern border.

Here’s what House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) said:

“If Democrats were serious about immigration, they would do something about the humanitarian and national security crisis along our southern border, but Speaker Pelosi has chosen to spend the House’s time on H.R. 6, an expensive, partisan show vote.”

Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, issued a similar statement:

“Sadly, Democrats are making us consider a bill to worsen the border crisis by incentivizing more people to cross our borders illegally in hopes of getting a piece of the amnesty pie. No doubt at this very minute, the smuggling cartels are getting the word out: Congress is going to legalize millions.”

While President Donald Trump is trying to secure the border, Democrats are trying to ensure millions of illegal aliens can stay in the country.
