Though socialist Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders believes the American people must make sacrifices to stave off the unproven threat of man-made climate change, he appears to be unwilling to make any sacrifices himself.
According to a watchdog organization in Vermont, in just October and November alone the doomsday-theory-embracing senator spent nearly $300,000 traveling on fuel-guzzling private jets.
According to Fox News, federal campaign finance reports show that he specifically spent $297,685.50 with Apollo Jets, a private charter jet service headquartered in New York.
Sanders’ critics argue that if he really believes in climate change, he should make sacrifices to lower his own especially high carbon footprint.
They also note that he’s long called for taking “bold” action against climate change.
“Look, we have got to come up and answer a simple question. Are the scientists right or are they wrong? If they are right they’re telling us that the planet earth will be 5 to 10 degrees warmer by the end of this century,” he said during a Vox interview in 2015.
“That will cause cataclysmic changes in terms of drought, weather disturbances, rising sea levels, acidification of the ocean, international conflict. If they are right, I believe they are right, we have got to move in a very, very bold way. We have to do it.”
Much like his protegé, socialist congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Vermont senator believes the American economy must be completely restructured to stop climate change.
A plan touted by Ocasio-Cortez specifically calls for dismantling the fossil fuel industry, which employs hundreds of thousands of Americans, and using exorbitant taxes and other revenue-generating methods to switch America’s energy production entirely to renewables.
According to Timothy Meads of Townhall, former President Barack Hussein Obama already tried a similar albeit less drastic scheme:
Green companies received billions in taxpayer dollars. And as reported by the Daily Signal in 2012, these companies often failed and their leaders pocketed the cash rather than actually create jobs and lasting green energy sources.
In fact at the time of the Daily Signal article, “1,900 investigations [had] been opened to look into stimulus waste, fraud, and abuse (although not all are linked to the green-energy funds), and nearly 600 convictions have been made.
Of that $80 billion in clean energy loans, grants, and tax credits, at least 10 percent has gone to companies that have since either gone bankrupt or are circling the drain.”
The likes of Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders want to try again, despite the potential costs to the American people. Yet they themselves seem unwilling to shoulder any of the burden.
It’s an hypocrisy many find discomfiting. It doesn’t help that the same day that Sanders reportedly paid Apollo Jets in early October, he posted the following tweet:
Climate change is a planetary crisis. Our task is clear. We must take on the fossil fuel industry that's largely responsible for global emissions and accelerate our transition toward energy efficiency and sustainable energy sources. https://t.co/661WsIZJYt

His critics have since pummeled him over his apparent hypocrisy.
Bernie Sanders = Hypocrite. The same is true for his wife.

Hypocrite! How much fossil fuel emissions come from the private Jets you charter? #FeelTheBern

It's such a threat, The little people need to have a lower standard of living. Bernie has another private jet to catch later…

Opinion @FoxRecords Always do what I say not what I do. Mr. Sanders flys in private Jets not caring about the carbon footprint. Has the old Grandpa image yet is a multimillionaire many times over promoting socialism. What a joke. A real imposter.

And you fly around in a private jet. The hypocrisy. This must be Ocasio-Cortez economics.
