NFL owners unanimously approved a historic rule change on Wednesday that requires all players, coaches, and team officials to stand for the national anthem.
The new rule states that if anyone associated with a team is on the field, they must remain standing for the anthem.
Players can remain in the locker room during the national anthem if they choose to do so, which will take away all of the media hype from players who are desperate for attention.

Here’s what ESPN reports:
“The new policy subjects teams to a fine if a player or any other team personnel do not show appropriate respect for the anthem. That includes any attempt to sit or kneel, as dozens of players have done during the past two seasons. Those teams will also have the option to fine any team personnel, including players, for the infraction.”
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell admitted the massive uproar from the American people over players disrespecting the flag and anthem forced him to create the new policy.
Here’s Goodell’s statement:
“This season, all league and team personnel shall stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem. Personnel who choose not to stand for the Anthem may stay in the locker room until after the Anthem has been performed.
“We believe today’s decision will keep our focus on the game and the extraordinary athletes who play it — and on our fans who enjoy it.”

This historic policy update would not have been possible without President Donald Trump. Last year, the president hammered players, coaches, and owners for disrespecting the flag and anthem.
The protests by entitled players resulted in a massive ratings decline for the league, a huge reduction in ticket sales, and Americans making it very clear they wouldn’t watch players insult the nation.
The president deserves a ton of the credit for forcing the league to implement this new rule, which requires anyone on the field to remain standing for the national anthem.
