North Korea has freed three U.S. citizens that have been detained in the communist nation for several years, bowing to another demand of President Donald Trump ahead of the U.S.-North Korea meeting in the coming weeks.
According to the Washington Times, Trump has said that the U.S. detainees needed to be released from North Korea before the historic meeting with Kim Jong Un, and the regime has honored Trump’s request.
The three Americans — Kim Dong Chul, Kim Hak-song and Kim Sang Duk, also known as Tony Kim — were released and sent to a medical treatment facility in Pyongyang.
They will reportedly be sent back home on the day of the U.S.-North Korea summit, and will reportedly be staying in a hotel outside Pyongyang until summit.
“We believe that Mr. Trump can take them back on the day of the U.S.-North Korea summit, or he can send an envoy to take them back to the U.S. before the summit,” said Choi Sung-ryong, an activist pursuing release of North Korea’s political prisoners.
Social media erupted over the news:

THE PEACE PRESIDENT: Meeting another Trump demand, North Korea released 3 American citizens that have been detained for years.

The release of the three Americans is another significant victory for the Trump administration, and comes after 18 lawmakers signed a letter officially nominating Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize for his historic work toward bringing peace between North and South Korea.
The letter gives the president a ton of credit for his efforts to denuclearize the North Korean regime and find a peaceful solution between the two nations.

North Korea agreed to denuclearize its program and end all missile tests to have the meeting, which was made possible by the crippling sanctions the U.S. has imposed on the regime.
And now North Korea just caved to another demand from Trump, which involved bringing home Americans who were held captive.
Not only does Trump deserve the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in bringing peace to the Korean Peninsula and completely denuclearizing North Korea, he continues to get major concessions from the regime without the U.S. giving up anything in return.
