ABC announced on Tuesday that the hit show “Roseanne” has been canceled following its star, Roseanne Barr, sending out a controversial tweet.
As noted by CNBC, Barr fired off a tweet on about Valerie Jarrett, a former top aide under President Barack Obama.
“Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” Barr wrote in a now deleted tweet about Jarrett.
In response to Barr’s tweet describing Jarrett as the product of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said he decided to cancel the show.
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” Dungey said.
Barr apologized before ABC’s statement on Tuesday, saying that her statement about Jarrett was a “joke” that made “in bad taste.”
“I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks,” Barr said. “I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”

Reaction on social media poured in following the news:
Do you think Roseanne Barr is a racist?

Jimmy Kimmel mocked the accent of the First Lady of the United States and nobody seemed to care at ABC.
But now that Roseanne did something, it’s like the end of the world to these people.

Yes, Barr’s tweet was controversial, but ABC has arguably been looking for any excuse to cut her pro-Trump show since it became the highest rated program on television.
In fact, ABC in particular has allowed its host and contributors to make egregious comments about President Donald Trump and his supporters without any reprisal or push back.
How about ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel mocking First Lady Melania Trump’s accent?
What about when Fox News host Sean Hannity exposed Kimmel for being a pervert? Hannity tweeted out numerous videos of Kimmel from years ago, where he is asking women to feel his crotch, and even “joked” that one girl was underage. ABC didn’t condone his abhorrent behavior nor did they cancel his show.
What about the left-wingers liberals on ABC’s “The View,” who call Trump a liar, compare him to Hitler, and call his supporters stupid? None of the liberal panelists have apologized or faced any actions for their comments.
Other media outlets have done the exact same thing for their liberal contributors who make disgusting and egregious comments about Americans.
How about MSNBC’s Joy Reid getting busted a second time in recent months for having dozens of bigoted, homophobic posts on her personal blog that slandered the LGBT community? Not a peep from ABC.
Remember when MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski “joked” that President Trump has a sexually transmitted disease? She made the unverified, despicable comment last month and never once faced any backlash.
