BOOM: Trump Waves His ‘Magic Wand,’ Strikes Down Obama’s Holy Grail

Former President Barack Obama claimed it couldn’t be done, so President Donald Trump stepped up and made it happen.

In June 2016, Obama’s holy grail came when he claimed that then-Republican candidate Trump would need a “magic wand” to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States.

“Some of those (manufacturing) jobs of the past are just never going to come back,” Obama said at the time.

“When (Trump) says…that he’s going to bring all these jobs back. Well, how exactly are you going to do that?” Obama continued. “He says, ‘I’m going to negotiate a better deal.’ How are you going to negotiate that? What magic wand to you have? And usually the answer is, he doesn’t have an answer.”

On Monday, Trump reminded Obama and the world that he’s got the “magic wand” and has already brought back hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs to America.

“Last year was the best year for American Manufacturing job growth since 1997, or 21 years. The previous administration said manufacturing will not come back to the U.S., “you would need a magic wand.” I guess I found the MAGIC WAND – and it is only getting better!” Trump wrote.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released its December jobs report, which showed that the economy added a jaw-dropping 312,000 new jobs.

One of the most striking revelations from that report was that manufacturing jobs have grown 714 percent faster under Trump than when Obama was in office.

In 2018, there were 284,000 manufacturing jobs added, which is the most since 1997.

On top of that, unemployment continues to drop under Trump.

In January 2015, when Obama was in office, 6.8 million were unemployed. In December 2018, that number dropped to just over 4.6 million.

Here’s more from the report:

Under Obama, federal state and local government employment grew 6 times faster than did manufacturing jobs, while under Trump, that ratio has been reversed, with manufacturing jobs growing 5 times faster than government jobs.

Looking at jobs added over the 24 months through this December and comparing that with the last two years of the Obama Administration is illuminating—both for the pace of employment expansion in the late stage of a business cycle, as well as for the composition of the jobs added.

At first glance, the overall employment numbers look comparable, with a little more than 5 million net non-farm jobs added in the last two years of the Obama Administration compared to more than 4.8 million jobs in the first two years of President Trump’s term.

The report is remarkable given Obama’s famous words in 2016, where he mocked Trump for saying he would bring back manufacturing jobs to America.

Obama arrogantly told a crowd that the only way those jobs would come back would be if Trump “had a magic wand.”

As it turns out, it appears Trump does have a “magic wand,” because manufacturing jobs have grown 714 percent faster under Trump.
