A conservative watchdog group has filed an ethics complaint against Rep. Adam Schiff for possible major violations.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton released a statement on Monday announcing that they filed an ethics complaint against Schiff regarding his communications with Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson and Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former attorney.
“Rep. Schiff has an ethics problem. His and his staff’s irregular communications with anti-Trump witnesses reflect poorly on the credibility of the House and its committees’ investigations,” the statement read.
“It has long been apparent that Rep. Schiff can’t be trusted to lead the Intelligence Committee, so we hope that Democrats on the Ethics Committee stop protecting Mr. Schiff and take action,” it added.
“Again, Rep. Schiff’s conduct creates the appearance of unethical collusion and synchronization of efforts that calls into question whether Cohen’s testimony was a legitimate congressional hearing or well-rehearsed political theater,” Judicial Watch’s complaint read. “We call upon the OCE to investigate Rep. Schiff and his previously undisclosed, inappropriate contact with key witnesses in congressional investigation over which that Member holds significant sway.”
Here’s more from The Hill on Schiff’s shady actions with Simpson and Cohen:
Which bring us to the issue of some photographs taken at the prestigious Aspen security conference last July.
They show Schiff meeting at the event with Fusion GPS Founder Glenn Simpson, one of the key and most controversial figures in the Russia collusion scandal. Both men insisted to me through spokesmen that they met only briefly last July.
At the time of the encounter, Simpson was an important witness in the House Intelligence Committee probe who had given sworn testimony about alleged, but still unproven, collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.
Simpson ran the firm hired by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic Party to find dirt on Trump in Moscow. He employed retired British intelligence operative Christopher Steele, whose infamous and unverified dossier became the main evidence for the FBI’s probe of the Trump campaign, particularly the surveillance warrant against Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.
And by the time of the meeting, the House Intelligence Committee had already received evidence from a senior Justice Department official, Bruce Ohr, that called into question Simpson’s testimony to lawmakers.
Schiff is also in hot water for speaking with Cohen for over 10 hours just before he testified in front of Congress earlier this month.
For someone who is so obsessed with the conspiracy theory that Trump colluded with Russia, isn’t it interesting how Schiff is colluding with Cohen in an effort to take down the president?
The double standard is appalling.
